Caddy

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ compact van, the Caddy, has consistently defined standards in its sector for nearly four decades. The second best-selling model in Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ range after the Transporter, the Caddy combines space efficiency with sleek Volkswagen design and affordable running costs.

The arrival of the fourth-generation model in the UK in September 2015 confirmed Volkswagen’s position at the forefront of the sector. It introduced state-of-the-art technologies (many of which were new to the class), comfort, convenience and safety features, along with a range of advanced Euro 6-compliant engines.

With a striking bold look that incorporates the Volkswagen’s acclaimed design language, the Caddy is available in commercial and passenger-carrying forms, offering buyers great flexibility and configuration options to suit every need, taste and budget.

The Caddy panel van is available in three trim levels – Startline, Trendline and Highline – and with short or Maxi wheelbases. The Maxi version adds 469 mm to the short wheelbase’s already generous 1,781 mm load compartment and a load capacity of 4.2m3 (SWB 3.2m3). Kombi models add additional passenger carrying ability, while the Life model is available with short and Maxi wheelbases.

The Caddy is offered with a range of six engine options - three diesel and three petrol. All are Euro 6 compliant and incorporate the very latest technologies to ensure maximum efficiency and performance. The diesel engine range is based around a 2.0 TDI powerplant and has outputs of 75, 102 and 150 PS, while the petrol line-up consists of a 1.2 TSI unit with 84 PS, a 1.0 TSI with 102 PS and a 1.4 TSI with 125 PS. All engines are equipped with five or six-speed manual gearboxes, with customers of the higher-powered versions able to opt for a DSG automatic gearbox option (with six or seven-speeds, depending on engine power output).

All Caddy models are equipped with a collection of features that includes a start/stop system, regenerative braking and low rolling resistance tyres to enhance efficiency.

For buyers seeking the ultimate in economy and efficiency, the Caddy BlueMotion is the perfect option. The most fuel-efficient Caddy ever built, it is equipped with a 2.0 TDI 102 PS engine, five-speed manual gearbox and a host of additional fuel-saving technologies and design features. Thanks to these it can return 64.2 mpg on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 116 g/km.

The fourth-generation Caddy also sets a new benchmark in the class for its array of safety and convenience systems. All models are equipped with Volkswagen’s Automatic Post-Collision Braking system that reduces the risk or severity of a secondary collision by controlling the speed and path of the vehicle after the first impact. Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Driver Alert are also standard features across the Caddy range. Customers are also able to specify Adaptive Cruise Control as an affordable option. ACC monitors the space to the vehicle ahead and maintains a specified speed and distance. The Caddy also features a host of systems designed to make life easier on board. It is offered with Park Assist and a rear-view reversing camera to help reduce the risk of damage when manoeuvring, as well as High Beam Assist that further enhances safety.

The Caddy’s exterior is distinguished by clean, crisp and elegant design features. With considerably greater road presence than its predecessor, customers of the previous model are certain to appreciate the numerous features introduced on the fourth-generation model. These include an unglazed tailgate that neatly integrates a roof spoiler and high-level third brake light.

In the cabin, the Caddy sets sector standards for comfort and quality. Every model in the range is equipped with a colour touchscreen system as standard, with customers able to upgrade to a higher specification Composition Media system with AppConnect compatibility or the Discover Navigation satellite navigation system (standard on Highline models).

The fourth-generation Caddy is built at Volkswagen’s production facility in Poznań, Poland. More than two million Caddy models have been built at this plant since the first model rolled off the line in 2003.
