The enduring appeal of Volkswagen’s most popular model has been underlined once more at the Car Dealer Used Car Awards 2016, sponsored by Black Horse. The Volkswagen Golf won the Used Car of the Year Award at a ceremony earlier this week. The Golf is packed with features that continue to make it one of the strongest propositions in the used car market.

Collecting the award Ian Plummer, Volkswagen UK’s Head of Sales Operations, said: “The Golf retains a timeless appeal and so it’s perhaps no surprise that it continues to pick up awards as a used car. It’s a strong seller in Volkswagen’s Das WeltAuto used car programme, and it’s a car that continues to put smiles on the faces of our customers.”

The Volkswagen Golf sits at the heart of the brand’s appeal in the UK, and is as stylish as it is functional and robust. That combination makes it a firm favourite with new and used car buyers.

Volkswagen’s Das WeltAuto programme was highly commended by the Car Dealer Used Car judges on Monday night, and was praised in particular for giving customers confidence in their purchase as well as complete peace of mind. 

It starts with the car undergoing a thorough 142-check process, carried out by trained Volkswagen technicians.  Any issues identified are addressed using Volkswagen Genuine Parts™. Additionally, the service history is validated, as is the status of the car’s warranty. The complete vehicle history and mileage is also verified. 

Only at that point can it become part of the Das WeltAuto programme. Once the customer has chosen their perfect used Volkswagen, they can choose from a variety of flexible finance options that currently include a deposit contribution of between £500 and £2,000 when the customer purchases the car on Volkswagen Financial Services’ Solutions Personal Contract Plan at 10.9 per cent APR representative*. In addition, customers who purchase a Used Car with Solutions PCP are also eligible for a service plan at no extra cost, covering their next two services.

Finally, a 12-month Das WeltAuto warranty is applied to the car, as well as 12 months roadside assistance, which covers the UK and Europe. And to get the customer on the road quickly Das WeltAuto offers insurance cover for the first five days of ownership, subject to conditions.

Alongside the Golf’s win at the Car Dealer awards Volkswagen Retailer Western Volkswagen, based in Edinburgh, was honoured too. It was highly commended in the Used Car Sales Team of the Year category. And Sinclair Group was highly commended in the Dealer Group of the Year category after being nominated by Volkswagen.
